It’s a big day for dabi and I, as the big double bed and mattress are due to be delivered to us. We wait for a whole morning. Nobody calls or knocks at the door. We keep on waiting and we can’t sit down anymore when it’s almost three in the afternoon. I make a call to Fantastic. The woman says the delivery is between one and three. If the delivery guy does not come by three, I can call them back. Then we continue to wait. It rains heavily outside and makes us feel a bit down. It’s a nice experience to feel the Australians’ working efficiency. At four, somebody knocks at the door. It’s the bed and mattress! I jump up and a bed frame appears in front of me. The delivery man carries all the things in the rain by himself. Then the slat and the mattress. All things are delivered and we don’t even need to sign anything. Amazing! We start to wipe all the things and begin to assemble the bed. First of all, dabi dismantle the little bed we have slept on for a week. We take it out to the sitting room and build up the new bed. From time to time, I tell myself, how lucky I am by marrying dabi who is very talented in hand making. Dabi works hard, bit by bit, we build the things up and make it a real double bed! With bed sheets put on it, the room feels really like a room, a room belonging to us. I begin to cook and Dabi puts all the things in the right places. The room looks tiny and pretty! We lie on the firm mattress at night, sighing, and for the first time we sleep as a decent person in a spacious bed.
